Maxton Soviak Memorial Bench

Dedication Ceremony

The Erie County Conservation League unveiled the Memorial Bench in Honor of Maxton Soviak on December 10, 2022. Max was a junior member of our club along with his father and several of his siblings. He graduated from Edison High School in 2017 and shortly after joined the Navy. In August 2021 Max and the Marine unit to which he was assigned were sent to assist with the humanitarian effort to evacuate people trying to escape the Taliban in Kabul. On August 26, 2021 he and 12 other service members (along with 170 Afghans) were killed by a suicide bomber. He was 22 years old.
